IMPULSIVE: classifieds portal with secure purchase and AI moderation

IMPULSIVE is a Latvian classifieds portal for used and new goods: clothing, kids’ items, home goods, vehicles, and a “Giveaway” section. Listings are free and unlimited. The portal earns its revenue from the secure purchase commission.

The Challenge

The client had an idea and a 24-page structure. Buying and selling needed to be as simple as on the big international platforms, only tailored to Latvia. Buyers had to feel safe about their money, sellers had to be able to post a listing in a few minutes, and moderation and legal compliance couldn’t require a large team. A ready-made classifieds script wouldn’t deliver that, so we built the portal from scratch.

What We Built

• Secure purchase. The buyer’s money stays frozen until the item is received. A sale takes 4 steps with a tracking number, disputes have an “I have a problem” button, and after 48 hours the deal confirms itself. The buyer sees the commission right in the listing.
• 397 categories with their own fields. Size, brand and material for clothing, height for kids’ items, make, model and fuel for vehicles. You can filter by several values at once.
• Listing in 5 steps. Drafts, drag-and-drop photo ordering, video with automatic transcoding, and an AI assistant that writes the description.
• Privacy from the moment of upload. The portal strips location and device data from photos, and the map shows only the city.
• Chat with push notifications and an email if a message hasn’t been read. Sign-in with Google and Facebook, ratings, favorites, and a mobile app as a PWA.
• Two-level moderation with AI. First a dictionary filter, then a second AI check so that “wooden inventory” isn’t confused with prohibited substances. The system blocks dangerous goods instantly, and the seller can appeal the decision.
• Complaints under the EU Digital Services Act: three types of complaints, a reasoned decision, and the option to appeal.
• Built-in CRM and IT panel. User history, transactions, a security log, and an audit of every administrator action. No external systems needed.
• Security from day one. A strict content security policy, CSRF protection, and OWASP ZAP testing. AI search engines can see the portal, but AI training bots don’t get user content.
• EvoEX Shield protection. The scanner guard recognizes and blocks attackers’ scanners before they can find weak spots, and we catch vulnerabilities in time, before anyone exploits them.

The Result

• A full marketplace platform with its own code, no heavy frameworks and no licence fees.
• Secure purchase protects both buyer and seller, so people trust transactions more.
• A small team handles moderation and EU requirements, because AI and automation take care of the routine.
• The portal is found by Google and AI search engines: structured data, an image sitemap, and llms.txt.
