EuropaColon Latvija: a new website for a colorectal cancer patient association

We rebuilt the patient association’s outdated WordPress site into a new, clear website with a well-suited theme. Information about colorectal cancer, support for patients and families, events and materials in one place, and the association updates the content itself.

EuropaColon Latvija: a new website for a colorectal cancer patient association

EuropaColon Latvija is a colorectal cancer patient association founded in 2012 as part of the international EuropaColon network. It brings together patients and their families, advocates for patients’ interests and explains to the public why screening and early diagnosis matter.

The Challenge

The association’s previous WordPress site had become outdated: it was hard to update, the information was scattered, and the site no longer reflected how much the association does. Someone who has just received a diagnosis, or a family member, needs to find what matters quickly and without searching. The association also needed to publish events, patient stories and materials on its own, without a developer.

What We Built

  • A new website, not patches on the old one. We rebuilt the site from scratch with a theme suited to the association’s work and the Elementor page builder. It is now easy to maintain, update and extend.
  • A clear structure for someone looking for help. The sections “About us”, “Colorectal cancer”, “For patients and families”, “Events and activities” and “Get involved” lead from symptoms and screening to treatment, life with a stoma, palliative and hospice care.
  • Events with their own pages. Walks, webinars and other activities with photos, descriptions and a list of upcoming events.
  • Stories of patients and families and an invitation to share your own experience, because stories from people in the same situation encourage more than any brochure.
  • A library of useful materials. The association’s booklets and statutes, specialist presentations and links to trusted resources in one place.
  • Contact and support. A contact form with consent to the privacy policy, donation details and an invitation to get involved in the association’s work.
  • Search and speed. Site-wide search, optimised images and Google tools for visitor and search data.
  • Maintenance. We continue to maintain the site: updates, security and technical support, so the association can focus on its work, not on the website.

The Result

  • The association has a modern website that matches its work, and it updates the content itself.
  • Patients and families find the most important information in a few clicks.
  • Events, stories and materials in one place help reach more people and encourage timely screening.
