Over the past week, our security monitoring detected hundreds of attempts to access our website. The figure sounds alarming, but the reality is far more reassuring—and this article will explain why.
No actual attack occurred. All 616 external security events recorded from July 7 to 15 turned out to be automated bot noise - scanners that conduct mass checks of thousands of websites seeking known WordPress vulnerabilities. Our site is not built on WordPress, so the paths being searched never existed, and each attempt ended with a blockage or 404 error.
Note on the period: the data covers 8 days, not a month - our security logging was implemented on July 7, so there are simply no older records.
